WHY PAINTED PLUM Sangha?
• We practice mindfulness in the Plum Village tradition.
• We believe strongly in community rather than just a solitary practice alone.
• We practice deep listening and compassionate speech in each meeting.
• We are focused on bringing mindfulness into everyday life.
• Practice without perfection. We try to have grace for ourselves and others in the practice.
• A welcoming, inclusive community
• The founders are a group of creatives - artists, musicians, writers, etc.

ARRIVE & GET WELCOMED:
Get a warm welcome from the community.
SITTING MEDITATION:
Grab a chair or a cushion (we provide them, or bring your own cushion if you want). We do a guided or silent sitting meditation for 20 minutes.
WALK MEDITATION:
We do walking meditation for about 30-40 minutes on a lakefront wooded lot. Take in a bit of nature while practicing being present during your walking meditation.
DHARMA TEACHING:
Each week we have a Dharma lesson by Thich Nhat Hanh or one of the Plum Village monastics. This is 15-20 minutes and helps us understand Buddhist philosophies and practices.
DHARMA DISCUSSION & SHARING CIRCLE:
This is a time for the group to share thoughts on the Dharma Topic or other things going on in their life. There is no need to share, but it is a safe space to be open and share. This is around 40 minutes.

Q&A Section
DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO MEDITATE?
No. We try to make things easy for all people. We will guide you and give basic instructions to help you learn the basic right away.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear comfortable clothes. You want to be comfortable sitting on a meditation cushion/chair and also to walk outside. You may want comfy pants. You might also want sneakers/shoes that are easy to take on and off. We take our shoes off inside when we sit.

No. Just bring your positive attitude, and we'll provide the rest.
DO I NEED TO BE BUDDHIST?
We welcome everyone so no need to be Buddhist. We do offer Buddhist ideas and practices in our meetings. You will be exposed to Buddhist concepts, but no need to be familiar with them.
IS THERE A FEE?
No fee, but DANA (donations) is accepted.

No problem. We have chairs for those who do not or cannot sit on a meditation cushion on the floor. If you have other needs, we will do our best to accomidate you.
